Routine; Used Oil Transporter On October 28, 2021 (10/28/2021), Romina Lancellotti With The Florida Department Of Environmental Protection (Fdep) Conducted A Routine Compliance Evaluation Inspection At Everglades Waste Removal Services Llc. (Hereinafter Egwrs Or Facility), Located At 3400 Se 9th Ave, Suite B, Ft. Lauderdale, Fl 33316. Egwrs Was Inspected To Determine The Facility’S Compliance With The State And Federal Hazardous Waste Regulations Described In Title 40, Code Of Federal Regulations (Cfr) Parts 260-268, And 279 Adopted And Incorporated By Reference In Rule 62-730, And 72-710 Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.). The Inspector Was Accompanied By Justin Stark And Tarin Tischler, Environmental Specialists Ii, From The Fdep.
The Inspectors Were Escorted Around The Facility By David Sills, Operations Manager, And Kelly Brandenburg, Corporate Compliance Manager. Upon Arrival At The Facility The Inspectors Presented Their Credentials And Explained The Purpose Of The Inspection.
Egwrs Is Situated On Two Separate Properties, Both Of Which Are Leased From Cliff Beery, Inc. More Specifically, Egwrs Leases An Office Space In A Building Situated At 701 Se 32nd Court, Suite 201, Fort Lauderdale, Fl 33316. In Addition, Egwrs Leases A Space Within An Approximately Two To Three (2-3) Acre Property At Cliff Berry – Port Everglades Facility (Epa Id # Flr000083071), The Address Of Which Is 3400 Se 9th Avenue, Suite B, Fort Lauderdale, Fl 33316.
The Facility Has Been In Operation Since 2006 And Employs 13 Staff. Both Of The Properties On Which Egwrs Operates Are Connected To The City Of Fort Lauderdale'S Water And Sewer System. The Facility Operates 24/7.
Notification History:
Egwrs Initially Notified The Department As An Used Oil Transporter On 03/27/2006. The Facility Was Assigned The Epa Identification (Epaid) Number Flr000132506, Using The Address Where The Office Is Located, However, The Facility Notified As A Used Oil And Used Oil Filter Transporter On 02/27/2019, And Obtained The Epaid Number Flr000229468 For The Address Where The Trucks Are Stored. The Facility Most Recently Notified As Used Oil And Used Oil Transporter Facility On 08/09/2021.
Inspection History:
The Facility Was Previously Inspected By The Department, Under The Epaid Number Flr000132506, On 06/08/2018 As Used Oi Transporter And Used Oil Filter Transporter Facility And Was Found To Be Out Of Compliance At The Time Of Inspection For Failure To Submit An Annual Report, Failure To Register As A Used Oil Filter Transfer Facility, Failure To Adequately Complete Shipment Records, Failure To Maintain Oily Water Waste Profile Records, Failure To Provide Training Records, Failure To Properly Complete The Registration Form, And Failure To Comply With Used Oil Filter Storage Requirements. These Violations Were Resolved Without Formal Enforcement Action.
Steel-Toed Boots And Safety Vest Were The Only Personal Protective Equipment (Ppe) Required To Enter The Facility. | Egwrs Operates As A Transporter Of Oily Water, Used Oil, Used Oil Filters, And Used Oil Absorbents. More Specifically, Egwrs Collects These Waste Streams That Have Been Generated In Ocean Vessels, And Transports Them To Facilities That Properly Dispose Of Them.
The Egwrs Facility Consists Of One Office Space (Which Is Approximately 2,100 Square Feet In Size), And A Truck Staging Area.
In The Office Space, Egwrs Personnel Conduct Administrative Activities Related To The Facility'S Transportation Activities, And In The Truck Staging Area, Egwrs Personnel Park The Tanker/Box Trucks Used To Transport The Above-Mentioned Waste Streams. Egwrs'S Transport Truck Fleet Consists Of 32 Trucks That Include Vacuum Trucks, Fruehauf Tank Trailers, Heil Tanker Trailer, Mack Tractor, Peterbilt Tractor, Tank Wagon, And Box Trucks.
As A Result Of These Transport Activities, Egwrs Generates Oily Rags And Used Oil Absorbents. In Addition, Universal Waste Is Rarely Generated In The Form Of Spent Fluorescent Lamps.
